Gentleman of Rio en Medio

The truth in the book is when Don Anselmo is selling the house in New Mexico. The truth behind it is hat he sells the house for a price that the American settlers agreed to. When it's revealed that much more land is involved, he's offered a much larger price. But refuses the extra money and settles for the original amount, no matter if there's more land. The truth behind this is that he wasn't a real estate owner. He was handling a transaction in New Mexico between personal friends and an older man. Once the people moved , they had a problem that the trees were on their land. Don Anselmo said that the trees belong to the people of the village, mostly his relatives, for whom the trees were planted for.
